Purposeful . Joyful . Intentional . Classical Christian Education
Scott and Kelley Brink founded Amicus Deo out of their own experience in educating their children. As the parents of four children, the Brinks have pursued nearly every option in obtaining a quality education for their children; public, private, charter, and homeschool. During that journey, homeschooling became their passion. The family became involved in a classical education model homeschool program, where Kelley later took on a leadership role within the organization by starting her own homeschool community. This community flourished, and the Brinks began to fully realize the enormous benefits of classical education as they saw their own children thrive.
Due to extenuating circumstances after relocating to Texas, Scott and Kelley tried several other options for their children’s education. Unfortunately, those options left them concerned that their children’s school curriculum did not align with their individual abilities and values. Their concern only grew as they considered the possibilities of their children getting lost in main stream culture and social media. It became clear that Christian Classical education remained the best answer for them. Recognizing that other families were in similar circumstances, the Brinks began to consider starting a new, Christian Classical education school. After much prayer, Scott and Kelley were connected with Concordis Education Partners, a consulting firm that assists in doing the exact thing that God put on their hearts. The result of this partnership is Amicus Deo Academy (Latin for Friend of God).
Scott is a twenty-six-year military veteran, serving in the Marine Corps and later in Air Force Special Operations. He has a Master’s in Business Administration, and extensive operations management experience. In addition to involvement in several startup ventures, Scott is also a commercial airline pilot.
Kelley’s background is in corporate training, to include working with multiple Silicon Valley startup companies. After having children, Kelley elected to become a stay-at-home mom, from which her love for education took a turn to homeschooling. Kelley became heavily involved in Classical Conversations, a nationwide Christian Classical education homeschool program. She served as a tutor (teacher), Community Director, and an Area Support Representative.
From creating this culture for their family, Scott and Kelley have grown in their passion to pass along their love of God and their love of learning. Amicus Deo Academy is the outpouring of that passion. Their prayer is that God will be present at Amicus Deo, and that each student, regardless of learning style or ability, will be blessed by an excellent education based in a Biblical worldview that encourages all to reach their individual potential.
